Segment Results

Media Business revenue was roughly flat at JPY735.1 billion (+0.4%), as account advertising growth (+JPY19.3 billion) and display advertising growth (+JPY3.5 billion) offset a decline in search advertising (-JPY20.7 billion). Media Adjusted EBITDA fell 2.2% to JPY280.6 billion due to increased generative AI costs and sales promotion expenses related to the LINE Official Account and MINI App. Commerce Business revenue rose 1.1% to JPY857.6 billion, but Adjusted EBITDA fell 12.8% to JPY129.9 billion, mainly because ASKUL’s Adjusted EBITDA declined JPY28.4 billion following its system outage, and due to higher sales promotion expenses in shopping and reuse; this was partially offset by a JPY4.8 billion increase from LINE MAN and BEENOS. Within Commerce, ASKUL revenue declined 15.3% to JPY402.3 billion, ZOZO revenue grew 7.1% to JPY222.7 billion, and LY Corporation and others grew 40.7% to JPY232.5 billion. Strategic Business was the strongest performer, with revenue up 30.6% to JPY445.7 billion and Adjusted EBITDA up 85.0% to JPY93.9 billion, driven mainly by PayPay Consolidated, whose revenue within the segment grew 26.1% to JPY375.1 billion. On a standalone basis, PayPay’s own consolidated Adjusted EBITDA reached JPY111.1 billion in FY2025, exceeding JPY100.0 billion for the first time, with GMV of JPY19.4 trillion and 73.36 million registered users.
