Construction, Mining & Utility Equipment sales increased 0.2% to JPY3,806.0 billion as improved selling prices outweighed lower sales volume, but segment profit fell 18.0% to JPY491.1 billion as decreased sales volume, product mix, and higher tariff-related production costs outweighed the benefit of higher prices; segment profit ratio was 12.9%, down 2.9 points. Industrial Machinery & Others sales rose 6.8% to JPY238.8 billion and segment profit rose 38.5% to JPY37.9 billion, driven by increased sales of large press equipment for the automotive industry and higher-margin excimer laser maintenance for the semiconductor industry.

FY2026 Forecast

Komatsu projects FY2026 net sales of JPY4,118.0 billion, down 0.4% from FY2025, and operating income of JPY508.0 billion, down 10.5% (operating income ratio 12.3%, down 1.4 points). Net income attributable to Komatsu Ltd. is projected to decline 15.5% to JPY318.0 billion. The projection factors in an estimated JPY90.1 billion reduction in sales and a JPY18.8 billion increase in costs related to the situation in the Middle East, as well as a JPY37.8 billion increase in costs from U.S. tariffs (including the additional tariff under Section 122 and revised steel and aluminum tariffs), partly offset by a JPY30 billion refund related to IEEPA tariffs. By segment, Construction, Mining & Utility Equipment sales are projected to decrease 0.4% to JPY3,790.0 billion and segment profit to decrease 10.4% to JPY440.0 billion (profit ratio 11.6%, down 1.3 points), mainly due to lower sales volume from the situation in the Middle East and expanded tariff and production-cost impacts. Retail Finance sales are projected to increase 1.1% to JPY127.5 billion while segment profit is projected to decrease 1.6% to JPY36.0 billion due to higher costs. Industrial Machinery & Others sales are projected to increase 0.1% to JPY239.0 billion while segment profit is projected to decrease 2.5% to JPY37.0 billion, as increased semiconductor-related sales are offset by lower sales of large presses and automotive battery manufacturing equipment and rising procurement costs linked to the situation in the Middle East.
