Segment Results

In the mainstay Vinyl Acetate segment, sales volume did not increase due to the European economic stagnation and other factors, and segment income decreased on the negative impact of inventory valuation differences and higher raw material and fuel prices. The Isoprene segment narrowed its operating loss to (4.9) billion yen thanks to the stabilization of operations at the Thai base, which also contributed to sales expansion. Functional Materials income decreased due in part to the negative effects of a cold wave in the U.S. and production difficulties, while Fibers & Textiles income increased on improvements in sales composition despite the European economic slowdown and EV production adjustments.
